2. Milorganite has no expiration date
3. Store in a cool, dry, area out of the reach of children and animals
While Milorganite is a safe product, there are some considerations to keep in mind during storage and disposal.
Disposal
Sweep, vacuum or shovel spilled or leftover material into a labeled container. Please keep the material from getting into any bodies of water. Reuse the product as a fertilizer for all of your landscaping and gardening needs by following the application directions on the packaging.
Milorganite has no expiration date. It will work indefinitely if stored properly in a cool, dry area out of the reach of children and animals.
Some dogs may be attracted to the smell of Milorganite and try to eat it. Store Milorganite in a sturdy container or in an unreachable location. If your dog eats Milorganite, there are no long-term toxic effects. Short-term indigestion can occur for up to 24-48 hours with a full recovery generally by the third day.
